About

Fri handmade jewelry is carefully crafted and designed by me, Josephine Lopez. I am a woman, a mother and have always felt compelled to be guided by intuition. I was born and raised in Denmark, I have lived and studied in Rome- Italy, I have lived and worked in California and now I have been fortunate enough to create a home in Vancouver, WA.
THE STORY
With years of passion for jewelry and a bachelor in jewelry, techonlogy and business, I have collected the courage to share my jewelry creations and push my own limits. I have in years worked professionally with jewelry, but never professionally with my own creations, even though they are the ones that have always meant the most to me.
With a mind molded by growing up in Denmark where hygge, minimalism and scandinavian design is key, and shaped by living abroad in the colorful and voluminous Rome, where captivating history is around every corner, to being uplifted by the free and creative California to then feeling grounded in Vancouver, WA, where I'm now trying to captivate the best of it all into unique jewelry pieces that reflects craftsmanship and quality in both materials and design. Fri is driven by passion and intuition. Capturing a little of everything but most of all, like everything and everyone, it's always evolving, while honoring traditional goldsmith techniques and consciousness.
Besides jewelry, my others passions are my family and our garden! I hope to be able to bring some of our natural, organic and homegrown plants into the world of Fri, both by jewelry representation and in a new setting of natural state.
TECHNIQUE
Having worked with jewlery at different levels since 2013, I have worked with a lot of different techniques and I always love to explore and learn new ones and combine new with old and tried techniques. I make everything by hand and depending on the design I apply the specific technique to achieve the desired outcome. Among some of the techniques I go through are hand forming, soldering, melting, wax carving, casting, stone setting, texturizing and polishing, etc.
MATERIALS
Materials provides a big part of the inspiration for a lot of the pieces and designs, and my goal is to use domestic and coonsciously sourced materials as much as possible with a known background and a high quality.
I personally prefer natural materials whenever possible.
